Client: NHL

Project Overview: FITCO, the furniture delivery and installation business unit of The Advance Group), partnered with WB Wood, a leading New York City furniture dealer, to complete a substantial furniture installation project for the National Hockey League (NHL). The NHL recently moved its corporate headquarters to a new location at 1185 Avenue of the Americas in Manhattan. The bid for this project was secured as a result of the cumulative efforts of Shamus Barnes, President of FITCO.

Scope: The furniture installation project was sizable and spanned 5 full floors. The FITCO team was on site to meet the Herman Miller trailers of furniture and off-load the workstations into the building and to their respective floors. FITCO union carpenters began meticulously unpacking and assembling the units. The FITCO assembly teams were able to install 322 Herman Miller workstations, 45 private offices, 3 Geiger executive private offices, 10 conference rooms, 235 lateral file cabinets and 800 chairs in one month. The project consisted of installing a variety of workstations, private offices, files and custom conference tables made with white glass designed to replicate ice in a hockey rink. FITCO’s experienced assembly teams employed an extraordinary amount of organizational skills to complete this project. In addition, Denise Daur and the staff at WB Wood, specified the job to perfection and provided FITCO’s staff with detailed furniture specifications and drawings, allowing them to execute the job precisely. FITCO’s coordination with the architect, project management company, construction manager, building management company, and furniture dealer was imperative to maintain this tight job schedule.

Result: “This was a successful project for our company. The work was executed with absolute precision. We were proud of the fast and accurate work done on this project by our carpenters. Fast-paced jobs can become complicated quickly, but our experienced management staff, client service team, movers, carpenters and laborers’ performance on this project was outstanding.
