To the Team,
I wanted to thank everyone involved in the Towns Re-Stack effort who worked over the last two weeks with our Clancy-Cullen staff; from NADC, to Cross, to Fitco, and especially to everyone at Team Aol. It was very gratifying to have the support and patience of everyone, and we hope to be able to support all of you in the same way in the future. Even though the thought didn’t necessarily cross my mind at the time, I have to say that this will be a project that I will look back upon with real fondness in the coming years.
My father has always been a great storyteller, about the things he’s done in his life; and I’ve started thousands of sentences with, “My dad always says…”. I won’t try to tell the story that he would tell at this moment, but it would end with the words, “…and so Marty, that’s how we saved the Circus”. (He and his buddy actually had t-shirts printed up with those words, to memorialize the event.)
It may be impossible to get my point across in that short phrase, but what I’m trying to say is: despite over two feet of snow still falling on the morning of the move and a city shut down and in chaos, despite a not tremendous amount of lead time, despite all of the moving parts and the sheer volume of content to move, and specifically because of a really terrific group of professionals, I think we all managed to stay on target, and in the end, we all managed to Save the Circus.
And, it’s a good story to tell.
